Comtoise precision regulator with central second hand and strike on gong. 8-day cable movement with power reserve (counter-locking), pin-wheel escapement (Amant), lyre pendulum weighing 5.5 kg. Half and full hour strike on gong with repetition of the hour strike after 2 minutes. Rack striking mechanism with bow rake. The gong is mounted in its own large, flat wooden case and combined with the smaller movement cage so that the entire unit could be placed in a grandfather clock case. Solid brass bezel, flat enamel dial. Circa 1890/1900.
