10-inch Comtoise clock with anchor escapement and lyre pendulum, half-hour and full-hour strike on a tone spring with repetition, date display, oval embossed decorative plate featuring vine and wheat motifs, enamel dial with floral painting around the location inscription, signed: a l’ouvrier de L’Espérance (“to the worker of hope”), Burtin à St. Yan. Perhaps this clock was a gift to a clergyman, with a dedication to the “worker of hope.”
