Comtoise clock with verge escapement and articulated pendulum as well as half-hour and full-hour strike on gong spring with repeater from around 1850/55. In this period, the gongs of the still very rare clocks with gong spring are always mounted outside on the back ( see detailed photo ). It was not until around 1855/60 that the gong spring was mounted on the inside of the wooden back panel. The oldest Comtoise clock known to me with a date dates from 1844 ( see fig. no. 189 CUM ).
