No. 90 CUM

Comtoise clock with side-mounted barrel music mechanism from around 1880/90, pinwheel escapement (Amant), half-hour and full-hour strike on a bell with repetition. Alabaster dial with applied enamel cartouches. The music mechanism plays the same tune hourly — or, optionally, one of six different tunes. The adjustment lever is located under the barrel. This clock was designed and built as a music clock; however, the music mechanism is a standard unit originally made for wooden cases and supplied accordingly. To the right of the comb (see detail photo) of the music mechanism, the recess for the spring barrel is visible. In this clock, however, the drive is via a rope pull. To ensure that the cast frame of the music mechanism fits between the clock pillars, a metal support bar had to be installed (see detail photo).
