9-inch Comtoise clock with verge escapement and folded pendulum from around 1850/1855. Half-hour and full-hour strike on a bell with repetition, late execution of a spring-triggered striking mechanism. Two-part pressed decorative plate depicting a romantic scene (couple with dove) in Louis XV style (shell and rocaille), separated by a ribbed border from the four identically pressed dial corners. See also the illustration of clock No. 355 CUM, which carries the same two-part pressed decorative plate. The embossing tools for the upper parts of the two clocks are not identical, as the two models differ in recognizable nuances. Enamel dial signed: Raphael Chauchot aux Moutiers-les-Mauxfaits. Typical sun hands from the 1850s.
