Nr. 357 CUM

8-day Comtoise clock with verge escapement and folded pendulum from around 1850. Half-hour and hour strike on a bell with repetition, strike mechanism triggered by spring pressure. Single-piece embossed decorative plate with lower extension for an 11-inch cage. While the illustrations of clocks No. 355 CUM and No. 356 CUM show a dove, here, a small eagle is clearly seated on the man's arm (only recognizable under magnification). Very rare hand design with a textured surface. See also clock No. 85 CUM with the same decorative plate, which is, however, marked with Deposé and Brèveté, but not stamped on the above model.
