10-inch Comtoise clock with verge escapement and folded pendulum from around 1850/55. Single-piece, heavily embossed decorative plate made of pressed brass sheet. Due to the almost 3 cm high relief, the plate cracked precisely at these raised points during the embossing process—namely at the underside of the right knee, the left leg of the man, and the edge of the jug (see detail photos from two different perspectives). However, instead of discarding the defective plate, it was skillfully reinforced from the back with additional brass sheet and delivered to the customer in this form.
