Nr. 334 CUM

9-inch Comtoise clock with verge escapement and folded pendulum (embossed rosette) from the year 1818. Half-hour and full-hour striking on a bell with repetition (no en passant half-hour strike), alarm mechanism. Three-part embossed decorative plate featuring a sun face (Apollo head) and ribbon above a fruit bowl, framed by acanthus, radially fluted corner decorations with five-pointed stars, which is placed under the domed dial. The decorative roof was originally attached to a separate holder with a small screw (see small hole between the fruit bowl and the sun face). The remains of the broken holder are still visible on the cage plate. Enamel dial with arcaded minute ring and five-minute markers (à la Dauphine) as well as polychrome floral painting, signed: Jean Bte (Baptiste) Michel 1818.
Extremely rare design of the sun hands, as faces are incorporated into the sun motifs.

Cage: 247 x 245 x 137 HxWxD
Mechanism: 372 x 245 x 165 HxWxD
