9-inch Comtoise clock from the time of Napoleon I, after 1802. Pinwheel escapement and lead bob pendulum, half-hour en passant strike and full-hour strike on a bell with repetition. Cast decorative element with a sun head (Apollo), ribbon bow, 4 cherubs, and a five-pointed star symbolizing the Legion of Honor, framed by the Cordelière. The lower decorative plates, adorned with edge embossing (made with punches), were later repurposed to secure the dial by cutting and bending small tabs upwards. Dial with arcade-style minute track.
