No. 324 CUM

9-inch Comtoise clock with verge escapement and folded pendulum from around 1835/40. Full-hour strike on a bell with repetition after 2 minutes, half-hour strike en passant. Two-part pressed decorative plate featuring a sun face and ribbon bow above a cup filled with flowers and fruits, flanked by cornucopias, palm leaves, and acanthus. Each of the four corners of the dial features 8-petaled flowers. Enamel dial signed: Félix Constantin her à Sirod Jura (her stands for horloger (clockmaker)). The dial painter miscalculated the total length, as the addition “Jura” is normally placed in parentheses. Due to the lack of space, the painter could not include the closing parenthesis without overlapping the floral decoration. The signature Constantin establishes connections to the now world-renowned Geneva watch brand: Vacheron et Constantin.

Movement cage: 245 x 243 x 149 HxWxD
