9-inch Comtoise clock with verge escapement and folded pendulum from around 1840/1845. Half-hour and full-hour strike on a bell with repetition, strike mechanism triggered by spring pressure. Alarm mechanism, chiseled star-shaped hands, dial signed: Romand - Terrand à St.Jean-de-Losne. Seller's signature includes two family names, as they were partners in a sales company. Two-part decorative plate made of brass sheet featuring an allegory of fertility: a sun face (Apollo) and ribbon bow above a bowl filled with fruits, flanked by two angels, each holding a spade and a planting stick. The four corners of the dial are adorned with oak leaves.
