Comtoise clock from around 1800 with a cast decorative part, featuring a large sun face (Apollo head) with 12 rays of beams, 2 small eagles, and an enameled medallion with three yellow hearts and the inscription CARPE DIEM (Seize the day!).
30-day movement with verge escapement and lead pear-shaped pendulum, half-hour and full-hour striking on a bell with repetition of the hour strike, triggered from the gear mechanism. No half-hour passing strike. Strike triggered by spring pressure.
Enameled dial with small Roman hour numerals and large Arabic quarter-hour numerals, arched (a la Dauphine) minute track.
Two auxiliary dials for the display of date (1–31) and days of the week (DIM–SAM), signed: Bailly A BEAUREPAIRE. The location is indicated on an enameled cartouche below the dial. Hands and corner decorations in the shape of hearts.
