No. 94 CUM
9-inch Comtoise clock from the time of Napoleon I, between 1802 and 1815. Cast decorative element with a sun head (Apollo), ribbon bow, 4 cherubs, and a five-pointed star symbolizing the Legion of Honor, framed by the Cordelière. Half-hour en passant strike and full-hour strike on a bell with repetition.
The large lever system of the striking mechanism has a very unusual arrangement, operating from below but already using a weight, and not, as was otherwise common during this period, spring pressure. Large scythe rack from the left, mounted between the movement pillars.
The lower decorative plates are of later date and were used to secure the dial by cutting and bending small tabs upwards. These small brass decorative plates are riveted onto the support plate; originally, they were screwed on. Iron hands with brass stars.
Restored dial diameter: 242
Cage dimensions: 243 x 242 x 145 HxWxD
Movement dimensions: 373 x 242 x 175 HxWxD
Pendulum length/lead bob: 1225 (all dimensions in mm)
