Nr. 501 CUM

Comtoise clock with radiating cast frame above clouds and five-pointed stars. Instead of the well-known large Apollo head/sun head with 12 rays, this is replaced here by a large central five-pointed star, flanked by three small five-pointed stars. The 12 rays above the lateral clouds occupy the entire frame. Already in 1800, Rear Admiral Ganteaume depicted a pentagonal star with the letter B (for Bonaparte) in his letters. This cast frame is the symbol par excellence of the new Napoleonic era. 8-day rope movement with verge escapement, brass gear already in place, half-hour passing strike, and full-hour strike with repetition on the bell, dish-shaped enamel dial, signed on the back: ‘Navand à Morez.’ Instead of the usual lead bob pendulum, this clock features a brass-cast radiating pendulum with a five-pointed star as a counterpart to the cast frame.
