9-inch Comtoise clock mechanism with anchor escapement and lyre pendulum from 1870/80, half-hour and full-hour strike on a bell with repetition, decorative plate featuring wine and ear motifs, as well as two putti leaning against a wine barrel.
Ketterer, a well-known family name from the Black Forest, adorns the enamel dial as a seller's signature: Primus Ketterer à St.Amand.
Many Black Forest clock sellers who marketed their homeland's products in France settled there and began selling Comtoise clocks, just like thousands of other clockmakers and clock merchants.
