Nr. 301 CUM

10-inch Comtoise Clock with Verge Escapement and Folded Pendulum from around 1845/50. The clock features half-hour and hour strikes on a bell with repetition and includes an alarm mechanism.
The brass, embossed, one-piece decorative plate depicts a horse with two riders. The manufacturer of the decorative plate marked their product on the side: BLONDEAU & GRENIER. The two occurrences of the letter "N" are embossed in reverse.
The enamel dial, decorated with floral motifs, is signed "Cler Horloger de Genève." This clockmaker, "Cler," worked in France but originated from or trained in Geneva, using the signature "Horloger de Genève" (Clockmaker of Geneva) as a marketing strategy.
