10-inch Comtoise clock movement with verge escapement and folded pendulum, half-hour and full-hour strike on a bell with repetition, from around 1840.
Two-piece decorative plate made of embossed brass featuring a sun head (Apollo) and a ribbon bow above a fruit bowl, framed on the sides with laurel, palm leaves, and cornucopias. In the four corners, stylized flowers are set against a scaled background.
Enamel dial with Arabic numerals, signed:
Claude Boyer. In the lower section, large flowers in a blue vessel are depicted, where the brush strokes with cobalt oxide paint used for coloring are clearly visible.
Dials with Arabic numerals have been present since the beginning of the 19th century (see illustrations Nr. 28 CUM + Nr. 38 CUM) but remain rare in Comtoise clocks.
