9-inch Comtoise clock with verge escapement and folded pendulum from the year 1843. Half-hour and full-hour chime on a bell with repetition after 2 minutes, striking mechanism still released by spring pressure. Two-piece embossed decorative plate depicting Napoleon I on a pedestal with two cannons, framed by laurel, flags, and two side eagles. In the 4 corners of the dial, cannonballs with burning fuses are depicted. Enamel dial with the year 1843 surrounded by polychrome enamel painting. Decorated star-shaped hands that became popular again with the renewed enthusiasm for Napoleon I (transfer of Napoleon I’s remains in 1840 from St. Helena to Paris in Les Invalides) and reminiscent of the five-pointed Order of the Legion of Honor from 1804.
