No. 422 CUM                                                                                                     Comtoise clock with verge escapement and lead pendulum from the Louis XV period, circa 1760/65. Half and full hour strike on bell. No repetition of the hour strike, no half-hour strike en passant, as this is struck from the striking mechanism. Cast brass decoration with Gallic cock above rocaille ( shell-shaped ornament ) and C-arches as well as two angel heads on the sides. Enamel dial with 12 sectional arches, on each of which a Roman numeral for the hours and an Arabic numeral for the minutes are placed, creating a radial dial - a so-called sun dial. This type of dial is extremely rare on Comtoise clocks.
